Hattons Solicitors St Helens 10k Run Raises £30,000

This Sunday saw seven hundred participants take part and most importantly finish the Hattons Solicitors St Helens 10k Run, in association with the Steve Prescott Foundation.

The route has been described as challenging but this didn’t stop the runners tackling the uphill challenge on North Road and Cowley Hill Lane twice. In fact there were many familiar faces involved in the run including Saints Head Coach Royce Simmons, ex Saints player Paul Sculthorpe, Sky Sports rugby league pundit Phil Clarke, and of course Steve Prescott himself. Seven runners from Hattons Solicitors also took part in the race.

The day was supported by a number of spectators who boosted morale by cheering on participants as they crossed the finish line. The family friendly carnival atmosphere was added to with Wish FM broadcasting all morning, charity stalls selling goods and even some rides for the children.

The race raised over £30,000 for the 5 beneficiary charities: the Steve Prescott Foundation, ABF The Soldiers Charity, Honey Rose Foundation, Willowbrook Hospice and Tunza’s Prize. Andy Reid, a triple amputee after being injured in an Afghanistan bomb blast, took part in the latter stages of the event, acting as inspiration to the onlookers.

Mike Denning commented on behalf of Hattons, “It’s great to see how the people of St Helens pulled together as a community to support this event. The Hattons Solicitors St Helens 10k Run has not only been a great way to encourage a healthy lifestyle but has also given local people the chance to work together and raise money for their local charities.

“Hattons have been on St Helens doorstep for legal advice for nearly 10 years and this run was a great way of us giving back to the community, as well as celebrating our birthday with the rest of St Helens.

“A big thank you also needs to go to the other local businesses for their involvement and for donating items for the Asda goody bags that were given out to every runner as they finished the run.

“Everyone that took part or volunteered on the day should be proud to have been involved in such a worthwhile event.”
