Our personal injury experts are warning people of a worrying trend in personal injury claims, but say that if the right advice is received, this is something that can be avoided.

Many defendant insurers are now seeking to settle with claimants as quickly as possible by making initial – often very low – offers before the claimant has had chance to access legal advice. As a result, many people are feeling forced into accepting these offers before realising that they could have in fact secured a much more appropriate sum for their distress.

“This is a tactic we are seeing increasingly more of nowadays,” says Chris Howard, our Associate Solicitor. “It’s hard to say exactly how many people are affected, but it’s becoming increasingly evident that insurers are looking to settle as quickly and cheaply as possible, which we obviously don’t think is right. As solicitors it is our duty to ensure that claimants are correctly and fairly compensated and have access to the justice that people expect in a democratic society.”

With a firm belief that it is unfair that people should be under-compensated if they have suffered due to the negligence of another person, we offer professional and expert legal advice from the inception of a claim through to the award of compensation, ensuring that the claimant receives the right sum for injuries sustained and any losses incurred.

“It’s definitely a worrying trend, but with the right advice people don’t have to settle for these cheeky early offers,” adds Chris. “I personally have dealt with a number of cases recently like this, including one where we managed to secure £22,000 compensation for our client after they were initially offered £1,000 by the insurers. If anyone feels that they’ve been made an unfair offer then I would urge them to get in touch to see if we can help in a similar way.”
