As part of that aim, this year we have chosen to support three extremely worthy causes:
The St Helens Christmas toy appeal, which has run annually for the past six years. All donated toys go to St Helens Council’s children’s and young people’s services, and we are only too happy to get involved because, without this excellent idea, there’s a very good chance that many children would receive no gifts at what should be the most wonderful time of the year.
The St Helens food bank and Village by Village in Ghana, which we support by holding a wear-your-own-clothes-to-work day at the end of each month. All proceeds from this go to Village by Village, which aims to reduce the needless suffering and deaths of children living in poverty in remote rural African villages, and our local food bank, which is seeing demand by more and more local people as austerity and cuts really start to bite.
The food bank is housed in a church community centre on Atherton Street, where there is a café alongside Citizens Advice representation and access to courses to help people needing support with issues such as lack of self-esteem or budgeting.
On offer is a friendly, non-judgmental crutch for people who are there by no fault of their own and who are abandoned by their government and often the rest of their community. The people using the food bank are referred by a variety of stakeholders, such as Helena Housing, GPs, hospitals and job centres and can only use the food bank with a voucher awarded to them.
As you can see, as an established local business, we’re proud of where we’re from and so believe it is our duty to help those that need it. Committed to making a difference to others through support such as that described above, we also strive to make a difference professionally through the range of services we provide to our clients.
So, if you need help in any of these areas, get in touch today. As a local company that tries to make a difference in more ways than one, we’re here to help. With Hattons Solicitors you can be assured of excellent service from a company that really does care.
