Following the breakdown of his relationship with the mother of his two children and then meeting a new partner, our client found himself unable to see his children because their mother decided that leaving her meant he had to give up all other rights too.
Clearly devastated about this, he sought our assistance and so we first attempted to solve things amicably by initially writing to the mother. When this proved unsuccessful we directed our client to mediation and then represented him when the matter ended up at court. With our help our client managed to secure regular overnight contact, which has begun the process of rebuilding his relationship with the children that mean so much to him.
“This case is a great example of an issue we see very often nowadays, but often clients think the system will be against them, which it definitely isn’t,” says Bruce Hatton, Senior Partner.
“Clearly it is better if things can be resolved amicably and before the courts have to become involved, but when relationships break down things can turn quite bitter very quickly. We were able to help and guide our client throughout the whole process and in the end helped to ensure he could continue to have a strong relationship with his children. If the mother breaches this order at any time we can immediately take the case back to court to ensure our client is treated fairly and can continue to be a father to his children, which is all he’s ever wanted. ”
