Being the new marketing assistant for Hattons has been great so far and I can tell you I've been kept very busy! In addition to being responsible for the social media campaign, one of my first tasks has been to help organise and promote two very worthwhile causes that Hattons has chosen to support this Christmas.
Our first cause is a children's gift appeal which enables us to support local kids through St Helens Council and their Family Support Unit. When I set up this appeal I spoke to a lady from the Family Support Unit for guidance on what type of gifts they would suggest we appeal for, and was surprised to find out that it's often babies and teenagers who receive the least gifts, as people tend to donate toys only suitable for young children. Being a teenager not so long ago this really struck a chord with me so I'm going to be buying a cosmetic gift set for a teenage girl.
We're also supporting Operation Shoebox this Christmas, which involves filling a shoebox with a range of goodies and useful items that are sent out to the troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. Whilst researching this cause I was quite surprised to find out that some of the items they appeal for are winter items such as hats, gloves and heat packs. I certainly did not expect the Middle East to be cold, let alone find out it actually reaches below freezing in the winter months there! I have decided to make a shoebox suitable for females and include items such as hand & body lotion, shampoo, shower gel and other toiletries, as I believe our very worthy service woman, some of whom have been away from the UK for months, deserve to pamper themselves this Christmas!
I personally think both Operation Shoebox and Hattons Solicitors Children's Gift Appeal are extremely important and worthwhile causes. I'm hoping to help bring a little festive cheer to others lives this Christmas and I hope you will too!
